# 54 = countdown to 0 (Assigment hand-in summarise)
Time to stop for a while... but it is not the end of the film.
Today is the submission deadline so let's wrap up everything I have done so far this semester but before we start, in case you found different to find the previous updates, here are the cute little portals:
(if password required: BIFFOBARE)
Week 4: Animatic, Background, Colour test
Week 5: Progress on rough animation
Week 7: Minor change on reloading
Week 9: Background, and more in-betweens
It is a fun project, I have to admit I am a little ambitious about the film, still, I enjoy it much. The film now is only halfway done but the major motions were completed. I try quite a lot of new things in this project, which may be something I should not as it is a client's project, I learn some basic skill of camera movement and making some visual effects.
The beginning of the project is really something "new" to me, in the previous projects I usually animate with an "anime" style, however, in this film, it's a cartoon so the shape and design of the characters is something I seldom consider about. I try to have more Exaggeration to make it more playful but resulting in the film really goes far away from what I can do in 3 months. After the midterm presentation, the client does realize my film is still very "anime" but luckily he is fine with it so I start adapting the film into my style. Also, I added the time and slow down some shots of Finlayson's face appearing on the screen (Especially for car rotation scene: slow motion for BFF were added, for the shotgun and transforming scenes, new angles, vfx and motions were added to let scene more dramatic.)
The film contains quite a lot of motions and it's very challenging. That's one of the major things I have learned from this project. First-year I learn the basics of animation, Second-year I learn more on slow the pace down, now I learn the importance of planning a project. Planning really makes the production smoother and easier to handle (but I still cannot finish it on time, sadly.) but all of them are some great experiences for my final year project. To sit down and revisit the film, I feel the staging of the film could be improved, I have made some scenes unnecessarily complicated.
And a big kudos to Eveliina from the University of the Highlands and Islands, who makes the music from the film, the music is still a rough sketch and we are working with it.
So what's next?
The holiday begins, Christmas is coming. I will get some rest, bake some cakes, and buy myself a Christmas gift. HOWEVER, the film is not done yet so I will keep working on it. Three parts need to be done: outline of shades, in-betweens, and colouring. I cannot give an exact time on average time on in-between/frame but I am sure each frame of line+colouring takes 30-45min. That's all for now, we will see again in the next update soon!!
And the last part here's the film.
